Africa Foundation was created in September 1997
to give humanitarian and social help to the people
of the Republic of Congo. The country is located in Western Africa,
bordering the South Atlantic Ocean, between Angola, Gabon and the Democratic
Republic of Congo (DRC). After coping with the health crisis created by
a year long civil war in 1997, where an estimated 800 000 people have
been affected and thousands killed, since mid-2000, the Republic of Congo
began the slow process of recovery. The country is now developing while
some civil unrest continues to broil in DRC.
Africa Foundation humanitarian
actions are meant to be proactive.
We believe in helping others by giving them the means and knowledge they
need to progress in their day-to-day lives and create a better future
for themselves and their loved ones. Our initial projects consisted in
the restoration of clinics and churches. We
recently completed the foundation headquarters, including four paillottes.
Since november 2005 we take care of twenty orphans
assigned to us by the congolese Supreme Court for Chidren. We are
currently developing an Artisanal Village in
the paillotes where artists and artisans can present their art and savoir-faire
as well as teach handiwork to disabled people and youngsters. Our aim
now is the construction of a proper College
for Homeless Children. Please refer to our
Achievements/Projects section for additional
information.
To succeed in our goals we need your help.
You can do so by becoming a Benefactor Member or Donor and contributing
to our projects with money, materials, books, clothes and toys. Please
contact us for additional information.
Thank you in advance.
